Hiking

Saunter through several DNR natural areas, follow the trail around Ennis Lake at John Muir County Park or hike to the top of Observatory Hill for breathtaking views.  There are also community trails that are popular for walking.

Parks and Beaches

Throughout the county there are great parks for kids of all ages! From expansive playgrounds and basketball courts, to ball diamonds and a splash pad, there are plenty of opportunities for fun! You can also find two public beaches in the county, along with a campground that offers swimming opportunities for a small fee.

Fishing

Many enjoy fishing Marquette County lakes for trophy bass and pike. There is also an abundance of walleye and panfish in area waterways. In addition to excellent trout streams, multiple lakes have shore fishing access.

Canoe and Kayaking

The Mecan, Fox and White Rivers are popular destinations for those looking to paddle through the area. The county also has two no-motor lakes that are local favorites for a day on the water! The area has several outfitters that offer trips if you do not have your own equipment. 

 

Hunting 

Known for excellent turkey hunting and being one of the top counties for deer hunting in the state, wildlife is abundant in Marquette County! There are thousands of acres available for public hunting opportunities.
